11 passengers hurt after express bus skids near Sungai Buloh

KUALA LUMPUR: Eleven passengers were hurt after their express bus skidded at Km 457.5 North-South Expressway near Sungai Buloh overhead bridge restaurant Monday afternoon.
Two passengers of the express bus traveling to Alor Setar, Kedah were seriously hurt in the road accident at about 3pm.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the bus with 28 passengers from Pudu Sentral Terminal skidded after avoiding a lorry during heavy rainfall.
"The express bus driver lost control causing the bus to skid, crash into the metal divider in the middle of the expressway before landing on its side in the extreme left lane," he said when contacted.
Arjunaidi said several passengers claimed the 30-year-old bus driver was speeding before the road accident occurred.

The injured passengers were sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment while bus driver was detained for urine and blood tests.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 of Road Transport Act 1987 for speeding and causing injury. - Bernama
