KUCHING: Sarawak Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) assistant director and three women officers were killed in a road accident near Sri Aman, about 200km from here, yesterday.
Sri Aman district police chief DSP Mat Jusoh Mohamed said in the 3.30pm incident, the four who died at the scene were Ibrahim Hailee, 35, Harliani Hanani, 29, Halimah Hamrie, 30 and Qurraty Aini Rolfandy, 23.
He said in the incident, the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that was driven by Ibrahim collided with a timber lorry at KM48, Jalan Sri Aman-Sarikei.
He added two other passengers sustained injuries with one of them suffering serious injuries and referred to the Sarawak General Hospital.
“The timber lorry’s 44-year-old driver is currently being interrogated by the police, he said.
